DEVILS TOWER, WYOMING

En route to Yellowstone National Park, we stopped by Devil’s Tower at Wyoming. The whole friggin ride to Yellowstone was a lengthy 11 hours drive. 11 hours on the car! Omg! It’s like sitting a plane ride that can take you to Europe or further. Therefore, a stop to visit some famous monuments along the way would be good and hence, Devils Tower. When I first saw the brochure of Devils Tower, I thought it looked vaguely familiar. Like I’ve seen it somewhere before. So I digged deeper into my brain and ah-ha! It used to be on “Aspects of Physical Geography” by Marianne Cheong. My secondary o-level geography textbook. I remember studying it before and omg I finally am going to see it in real life. It’s like the whole thingy just jumped out of the textbook or like I walked into the picture inside the textbook. Never imagined that I would actually see such stuff.!! I remembered that the textbook used to have a section that is devoted to just the photos (with color one k!) of such landforms. And when I was a young, innocent little girl in SCGS, I never imagined myself seeing such things in front of my eyes. Now at age 21, wow I finally saw something that I learned in my textbook. So cool! Devil’s tower has a little myth to it, something that was quite interesting but was never written in the textbook.

Found it in the little brochure and everyone in the car took turn to do English Oral with this short paragraph hahaha bored people…

“According to the Kiowa, seven little girls went out to play and were spotted by several giant bears, who began to chase them. In an effort to escape the bears, the girls climbed atop a rock, fell to their knees and prayed to Great Spirit to save them. Hearing their prayers, the Great Spirit made the rock to rise from the ground towards the Heavens so that the bears could not reach the girls. The bears, in an effort to climb the rock, left deep claw marks in the sides which had become too steep to climb. (Those are the marks which appear today on the sides of Devils Tower.) When the girls reached the sky, they were turned into the star constellation the Pleiades.”

What I learned in Marianne Cheong is that Devils’ tower is actually a volcanic plug. Cool stuff. Haha And near devil’s tower, we spotted some red rocks. Puzzling how such red rocks appear there. Wikipedia says these rocks were laid down in a shallow sea during the Triassic period, some 225 to 195 million years ago. Wowww. Like how bloodly long that is. Oxidation of iron mineral then caused the redness of the rocks and this rock layer is known as the Spearfish Formation. Hahah so cool right and all along I thought I was just snapping some cool photos of red rocks without realizing they are actually like super old rocks. So cool. Can u imagine! The rocks were actually there like some 100 million years ago, and some 100 million years later, we were there to see it. Went a bit mad after that and we started camwhoring as usual, taking up the entire road doing emo shots etc, hahaha behind every picture is like dunno how many NG shots la.

Then we continued our little road trip to the famous 2012 place, Yellowstone National Park. Getting there wasn’t an easy thing and it was really a test of my lousy driving skills man. I had to drive through Blackhorn National Forest and Shoshone national forest which was like omg la. Highway 14 leads to the east entrance of Yellowstone and is really NO JOKE, especially when winter isnt really over in Wyoming, or so it seems. It was really stupid, I was just wondering why are the roads so winding and why are we keeping going uphill. Was still waiting for the downhill part to come when it suddenly dawned on me that there was no downhill coming anytime soon cos we are actually driving into the mountains. So on and on, I drove, and as my ears started popping, the season changed dramatically too.

From sunny sun sun with clear blue skies at the bottom, rain started falling halfway through the journey and when I finally reached the top at 8437 feet, it was snowing like nobody’s business. Driving on snow wasn’t fun at all. The brakes just didn’t listen to u, and the steering wheel would just sway on it. Ice and snow isnt fun. It was totally all white in front of me. Could have a nice christmas feel to it but I had no freaking idea what was in front. Worst drive ever. Then the sides are filled with christmas pine trees that paved the way for doom if u were to drive off it. And u dunno where the boundaries are. I wished I took a video of that drive man. And I must say when I finally approached downhill and know that the worst is over, the feeling was just phew man and the best part was this amazing scenery that was awaiting us.

The exit from blackhorn was filled with valleys and framed with red rocks that kept me awestrucked. It was like a prelude to what was coming up at Yellowstone. I never knew such landforms actually existed man, it looked like it just jumped out of a set from a Hollywood movie. It really gave me an insight to Mother Nature, like how freaking powerful she can be and just how tiny and puny we humans really are. But I didn’t had hands to capture that picture perfect scenery. Wasted. So that’s what humans do, when they cannot go through a mountain, they go round it, and that was a hell of an experience man.

At the next gas station, Royston loo took over the shift and conquered Shoshone Mountains. Test of drving skills for him too hahaha. Maybe it was the adrenaline rush or I was plain relief that my shift was over, I was damn high afterwards and made lays and chubs do our crazy S.H.E impersonation. Chubs is just damn good at rapping and nancy never fails to stun with her sudden mad moves. We witnessed how green meadows and blue sky can turn into snow mountains with snowstorms and then to valleys and more never-ending mountains. One of life’s most beautiful picture was captured here at some unknown and far away place from Singapore.

We then, reached the entrance of Yellowstone National Park, Cooke City, Montana. Cooke city is not a city. It is just like those small little towns in the middle of mountains that will experience the full power should mother nature unleash any of its power at that area. It just seems so wonderful to open ur window/door everyday and the first thing u see is the towering mountains and first thing you breathe is the fresh mountain breeze. But if anything happens, u ll be the first one to die too. The town was real quiet by the time we reached. Looks like some murder or horror story could happen there and no one would know if u disappeared in there.

But when we entered this small restaurant to get some food, the people there were nothing but full of kindness and hospitality. Advised us not to enter Yellowstone at that time of the night cos roads would have been closed cos the bisons sleep on the road at night. And thus, we are stucked just outside Yellowstone. So near yet so far. And it’s a friggin -6 degrees outside the car and with only one georgia tech hoodie to keep warm. Yellowstone tmr! Woohoo!

MT RUSHMORE, SOUTH DAKOTA

OMG I FINALLY SAW THE MOST AWAITED THING..MT RUSHMORE! THE 4 PRESIDENT FACES ON A GRANITE WALL!!! FINALLY!!! but sadly the weather was horrible. damn foggy. Chubs kept saying Mt Rushmore is fogged up hahaha But nevertheless, i wouldnt have gave up the chance of seeing it. But I thought it might look nicer if they had blue blue clouds at the back as background, makes the pictures look so much nicer. And can u believed it, it snowed in the night la when we were there to catch the lighting up ceremony. Can u imagine? snow in may?? woww.. i thought such weather ended back in the old days of atlanta. hahaha and we were totally not in our winter wear. cold ttm. but i must say it was a damn enriching thing to learn a little of US history and the endless work put in to carve the face of 4 americans who did their part. Felt rather patriotic after the ceremony especially when they were playing the American anthem. They even invited like military or any war veterans up to the stage to honor them. Quite cool.

But wow I finally saw that huge huge big 4 faces. Really quite cool how they manage to build it. I wished they could build a platform that allows the tourist to see it nearer or have like helicopter flights to view the 4 faces close up. I think I ll be more awe-strucked if I saw it in closer view. And I think weathering has taken place alrdy. Somehow the presidents look like they were crying la. Weirdddd.

So do you know who are the 4 presidents on mt rushmore? They are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt, each represent the birth, growth, preservation and development of United States.

And who was the brave man who built it? Gutzon Blurgon. I love his words.

"Mt Rushmore is eternal. It will stand until the end of time. Ten thousand years from now, our civilisation will have passed without leaving a trace. A new race of people will inhabit the earth. They will come to Mt Rushmore and read the records we have made. Hence, let us place there, carved high, as close to heaven as we can, the words of our leaders, their faces to show posterity what manner of men they were. Then breathe a prayer that these records will endure until the wind and the rain alone shall wear them away. "

Then we did a super funny video at mt rushmore..cant wait to see it on facebook hahaha. It was real fun and funny. Damn high halfway through trail.

CUSTER, SOUTH DAKOTA

Second stop of this 21 day road trip. Wow. We’re moving on. For a brief introduction, this national park is a damn rocky national park. They have a lot a lot of rocks. It’s like a small prelude to Mt. Rushmore because the rock resembles the granite rocks of which the 4 presidents face were carved on. Damn nice. And today, we left the friendly Colorado for South Dakota, a stop over before we finally reach Mt. Rushmore. Custer is a small town which is a 6 hours drive away from Denver. The drive was abit Alaska-ish cos I saw familiar snowy capped mountains on the way out. Haha it was a good opportunity for Nancy to have a field of what it was like since she did not go to Alaska. Daamnn nice..What amazed me about Custer that it was very different from other national parks that I’ve been too. It was the first time I saw so many high towering rocks which was different from the view that I had in Mt Rainier in seattle. Standing below and looking up was like wah…damn high leh.

And I drove through this really narrow one lane tunnel inside this stone. I think they blasted it to make a road so that we can travel around it.

Then went to this place lake where I finally saw a reflection lake. Though mt rainier was not the backdrop, I had some really nice view of some rocks.

Halfway through, we all felt damn cold. Like damn cold cos it started to rain abit and it went back to Atlanta weather like 10 degrees and all I had was my Abercrombie jacket. Then it was damn funny cos we all were very niao ji I Had to find toilet. So we went to this restaurant, pee-ed and for the first time in my life, I ate BUFFALO MEAT. Wow… I thought it was not bad. Had a bit of the texture of a foie gras. Haha and then it came with this sauce that tasted like soya sauce for us to dip the meat in it. Haha and we met this Indonesian waiter. Wow right at the other end of the world, felt nice to meet someone whose nationality felt close to home. Haha.

The next day we continued with our little adventure at Custer State Park. This was really quite a small and unknown state park as compared to other park but I felt it had a lot of hidden gems. Driving further down, there was a total change of landscape. We said bye bye to rocks and hello to never ending landscapes that look like teletubby land. Just meadows and meadows and endless meadows man!! Damn nice! A pity the weather wasn’t nice at all cos it was super gray and cloudy, and it rained for awhile. So even though there was nice nice meadows, there wasn’t nice nice blue blue clouds to accompany it. And I saw so many wildlife for the first time!! Though there will be more to come next time when I visit Yellowstone and more. But omg saw so manyyyy bambi!! Really a lot a lot of bambis man. See until dowan to see ah!

And in US, I keep seeing this sign everywhere I drive.

And today, I finally understood what it really meant cos these deers really will run out onto the road. They look like they just hop out of the sign and lucky we didn’t hit them. Damn scary, they will just suddenly pop out and like three by three run across the roads. Ha! Can u imagine if u drive along PIE, then suddenly bambi appear! OMG. Hahahahah I think I would go crazy haha I think the uncles and aunties driving would go crazy too hahaha. Wowww.. So we let them cross and I snapped like lotsa photos of them. But the stupid rain made the sky not nice looking and therefore photos not as nice too. And omg WOOHOO! I SAW MOO MOOS! LIKE LOTSA MOO MOOS!!! But they aren’t the authentic black and white cows. They are just black moo moos. But still I saw moo moos! And there was this stupid moo moo cow that went out of the fence and he was walking along the road. So poor thing leh. Whats the moral of the story, don’t be a stupid cow, and act smart and get out of the fence. Damn poor thing after that cos very difficult to find way back into the fence and I doubt he actually remembered how he came out. So dumb rite. Omg I don’t want to be a cow. And dunno why, I was felt damn high today. Must be the mad view along the drive. Damn high. Plus with all the green meadow, it just makes the whole US seem so big and so vast. Like Singapore becomes so small and cluttered. And today, I drove at a freaking 90 miles per hours, that’s like 145km/hr hahah that’s not allowed in Singapore. Woohoo. And it didn’t felt like how 145km/hr should feel leh. I think I ll die if I drove at this speed in Singapore.

And I must say, even though custer state park is really one of those not so famous national parks, like I totally didn’t hear about it even when im in the US, until when we decided to go to mt rushmore then it popped out, not really popped out la, it has always been there. But I must say, it’s friggin beautiful!! The change in landscape from at the top of the mountain to below with all the nice never-ending meadows. And so much of wildlife like bambis running in herds and my life’s very first bison. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L.

10 percent of the trip down. Tmr, MT RUSHMORE. Weeee…. FINALLY.

p.s quite stupid cos they say there are a bison national park like got hell lot of bisons, about 3000 of them, but I only saw one pathetic bison like far far away underneath a tree, so where did the other 2,999 bisons go? Idiot.

DENVER, CO

this is the start of something new, dont you agree...gavin degraw's song is stuck in my head..omg this is the start of our 21 days road trip. the longest ever i've been on the go. haha and what a great start i had man. WE MISSED OUR FLIGHT. HA. HA. atlanta hartsfield airport is reallly the busiest airport. not in a good sense like our Changi airport. queues are just freaking long everywhere. mad the maddest dash i ever had. haha i've never missed so many flights in my life before. but somehow i just got used to it. Luckily, the next flight was at 2.39pm. So we spent the next 5hours or so sitting there, chatting nonstop, like really nonstop and eating authentic US popeyes. quick fun la. time went really quickly and before i knew it, i was at DENVER, COLORADO. How cool is that. And im just 1 day away from mt rushmore! omg i finally get to see the 4 faces of the US presidents on the legendary mt rushmore. Do you know who they are ?? haha... omgg so exciting..i think it's just gonna be stunning. wow oh wow. The last time i actually saw it was on National Treasure, the movie. Now i m gonna see it with my real eyes. haha. Actually it feels nice to be able to travel the different path cos nobody in GIP actually went there and singaporeans usually would not come to such ulu places when touring US. They ll prob go to vegas, ny etc. like how many people actually saw the real mt rushmore in singapore. how cool is that. hahaha. nei ni nei ni poo poo. i think we really made our exchange worthwhile to the max. totally travelled and see what i really want to see in the states. damn high now hahahahahahahhahahaha.

And i realize the people in colorado are damn friendly and just nicee...Went to see this dome that has its roof made of 24k gold. and had nice nice yummy fine italian pizza. loving this placee....

nice rite hahaha the sky is damn nice la and this is a the no. 1 breakfast place in denver. crowded to the max but we reach early and woohoo had a uber cheesy cheese omelette... k im out..more coming up!! stay tuned!!!

LIFE GOES ON

Before i know it, today's my last day in atlanta before i fly off on my 21 days long road trip. what a journey man..i could still clearly remember what it felt like to be in the "omg i m going to US for exchange" and the sheer excitement i had while planning to come over and when i finally came over. now it's all almost coming to an end. tmr will be the last leg of this entire 6 months in a foreign land and i must say i really liked it here. Like just living abroad and in the US. but if i ever had the chance to choose a city to live in here, i ll prob go to Seattle. haha. But still life has been a blast man. The pace at georgia tech is like wow, makes me wanna be a student forever man. Exam week isnt really exam style cos we only need to study the day beforehand and the test is like wat, 1/3 of a paper in ntu, almost like a normal test that u do in class that type. So when exams really ended yesterday, it really didnt felt like anything cos we didnt even study like how we study for exams back in NTU. It is really slack to the max. hahah im gonna miss everything here, my room, my friends, the travelling, some of the food. It's been a really fun last 3 weeks here in Atlanta. Sigh what a dilemma man. On one hand, i dont really want to leave this place, on the other hand, i miss some parts of Singapore really alot, like the food, my family and friends. So how, should i stay or should i go? hahaha i have no choice, i have to go. but who knows one day, i might be back. It'll be really cool if i can live in a different places for like 6 months each and travel and experience the local culture and food. sighhh....why is it that we take one minute to say hello and forever to say goodbye? But like what chubs say, Life just goes on. So i ll make sure i'll enjoy every single moment of my last 21 days here. AND OMG I STILL CANT BELIEVE I REACHED THE END AND I M GOING FOR THE LAST PART OF MY EXCHANGE. THE FINAL WEST COAST TRIP. how far and distant it used to be but now it's just in a few more hours. Time really doesnt wait for anything, it just goes on.

Now staring at my almost empty room, reminds me of just the time when i arrived, cleaning and unpacking and now im packing to leave. The flood of emotions going thru now is really i dunno what to say. look at my empty cupboard and shelves!!! everything is in the luggage now! omg!

Goodbye Atlanta. Hello my final leg of US. And hello Singapore in 3 weeks time.

ORLANDO, FL

HELLO!

Back to florida again but this time, we combed the northern part of florida and that's where Disneyworld and Universal studio is. haha and omg can u believe it, i spent my 21st birthday in Disneyland!! hahah how funny is that. i had to wait til i'm 21 years old before going to disneyland! hahaha but it was damn fun la.

We had a long long 8 hours drive to orlando, omg 8 hours is like u can take a plane and arrive somewhere in Europe but it was ok in the end..talked alot of cock in the car though i cant really remember what we talked about BUT i remembered what we talked on the way back and it is damn funny. haha tell you later.

This trip was damn spontaneous cos we realized we had to be back by sunday cos monday need to hand up a test. So on tuesday we changed our plans and decided to go orlando the next day. damn fast la. We ponned a total of 2 days to make this 5days 4 night trip to florida. HA. i think the time i spent on travelling every weekend is more than the days i spend going to school. horrible man..and we purposely made sure we came back on sunday cos me and chubs had to hand up a test paper on monday but guess what. it didnt work cos we still pon on monday cos the whoole house overslept hahaha. damn funny to wake up and find the whole house still at home. we were just too shag from all the travelling and fun. then the worst thing was on tuesday, we managed to get up for our 8am lesson and went to school but we still pon the 9.35 am lesson. haha we are zai max max la. go to school liao still can pon lessons. what are we doing man. hahaha ok thats besides the point.

On thurs night when we arrived, we went to visit the ICEBAR. it's like a pub thats all ice. duh. the name says it all rite. hhaha and it was damn funny how we plotted trying to get in cos u have to be above 21 years old to do so in the states. So chubs who is born on 1st Dec and Nancy who is born on 27 Jul cannot get in. then ROYSTON LOO. omg took out his international student card and said with a damn serious tone " i think u can try using my card" and flashed his photo thats looks like a freaking boy. HAHAHA i wished i had a photo of his card. damn funny la. i wonder how nancy and chubs can ever look like him. but there's always a way to cheat the system. in Singapore when the date says 1/12/1989. it means it's 1st Dec 1989 but in US, its Jan 12, 1989. (fun fact for u! mr tan peck lim and mr derrick yeo. so dont act like idiots in the states next time) So our young and fbb chubbo poh's birthday suddenly switched from 1st dec to 12th jan! hahaha..so ta dah she is 21 years old liao.. can totally forget bout celebrating her birthday on 1st Dec this year. haha. but in the end, no point la cos they didnt even check, easy peasy to get in la. idiot. hahah and this is the lovely iceglobe my housemates surprised me with at 12 am, 8th april.

The next day was spent at Disneyworld.
And it's the first time in my life that i took a roller coaster. omg la. hahah i really had hell lot of first times here in the states. not too bad. The closest i went to taking a roller coaster was those helicopter rides that u see in pasam malam last time. haha so omg la. and it was the first time i took the most amount of roller coaster rides i did in a day in my life ever. wahh.. but at least it was a nice prelude to Universal studios. get me used to the stomach-want-to-come-out kind of feel. haha And i had the biggest turkey leg ever for lunch. it was like the size of half my arm la. huge. haha. And i had to wear a happy birthday pin and then the disney staff would just shout happy birthday and sing happy birthday song when they spotted u. omg damn embarassing la. The best part of Disney was the last part actually, during the fireworks and 花车 disney chingay style. Damn nice, damn magical la. i saw cinderella and prince charming and the evil witch and they look damn nice. wahh.. i wished i lived in a fairy tale land too. And the fireworks was amazing. it's like 50 years of NDP la. DAMN NICE REALLY REALLY DAMN NICE. especially with the castle as a backdrop. wahhh.. i want to see it again haha so not too bad i had fireworks on my birthday too. more than enough.

Then came Universal Studios.
i swear before i even stepped in, my palms were sweating alrdy. Wahh i saw the roller coasters and how the rest were talking bout the rides we were gonna take, cold sweat was flying out k...we took the duelling dragon, free fall launcher, hulk roller coaster and jurassic park rides etc.. waseh....They keep saying once you conquer this, all other rides are ok alrdy. The worst part is just before the ride begins, cos u dunno how it will be like. Wonder whats the Singapore Universal Studios like. But not bad la...we took hell lot of water rides too...drenched to the max la and had nice nice ben n 'jerry float after that.. ok la..quite enjoyable though i m still not a fan of such rides. hahai wished i had the photos to show you but wait til royston uploads the orlando photo then i update this blog entry la.. need to quickly blog finish if not all the entries will just keep piling up.

Shooping at orlando premium and prime outlets were good too! bought quite alot of stuff haha fun fun. i bought alot of f21 stuff and wow i actually bought a watch from fossil for myself too! haha so weird cos i dont wear a watch at all. but i was thinking next time work can wear. sigh i hope i do that. haha

The funniest part was the ride back home. What can 5 people do in the car for 8 hours?? now its tenneesse 4hours drive times 2. haha all thanks to the life guru, aunty nancy that our drives are always filled with topics to talk about. and all thanks to little talkative chubbo that we will never fall asleep on the car haha. each of us had to think of a friend as a candidate to recommend to nancy. haha it was kinda like the show, 原来就是你，幸福就在你手里 hahaha damn funny la... nancy's qualities in a man are shy shy weird weird and open bottle will look very man that type. hahaha had such a fun time disturbing her man.. then there were like 3 rounds to this game. first round must say all the good qualities of ur friend, second round was to list the not so perfect qualities and then there is a PK round, where nancy kicks out one of the candidates then last round is nancy get to ask the remaining candidates 3 question each before she makes her final decision hahahah damn funny la... then it was CHUBBO'S TURN. hahaha i think think then finally thought of one person that fulfils most of her criteria.. then i realized why i didnt i think of introducing that person to her last time.. waseh totally leh... next time if got chance must really intro her to that guy cos quite fit her criteria hahahaha why ah why didnt i think of that ...so we talked like that for whole 8 hours before seeing the familiar atlanta buildings pop up on I-85/75 that we realized we are finally back in Atlanta.

Not bad, we conquered the north and south of florida finally. woohooo. what an experience!

ok this blog post was typed out like a dunno how many weeks ago when i just got back from camping. haha i realized i need to type it out straight away if not i will forget. see what happened to alaska and seattle. i wonder when i will ever blog about it man.. hahaha and waiting for photos just isnt going to work cos i think royston will only upload them after we get back to singapore. hahaha. but poor boy. he got so many photos to upload and filter. wished i could help but i think i ll prob destroy his photos hahaa.

HELLO I JUST GOT BACK FROM THE SMOKY MOUNTAINS!! OMG HAHA short 2 day 1 night camping trip at the mountains. how cool is that. When in Rome, do what the Romans do, so when in US, do what the Americans do. And the americans do camping as part of the leisure activity. So i kinda like this exchange really alot cos u get to do what the americans really do, live abit like them and just experience their lifestyle and culture. Smoky moutains was really nice though the scenic loop drive was closed and we missed some parts of the scenery but the whole camping experience was really fun. And it's just funny how the trips that we plan and expect the most usually dont turn out as much as we expected as compared to the trips that u think wont be as fun but turn out exceptionally fun, for example, savannah, this camping trip and miami. But nonetheless all the trips were fun la. I wished this would just carry on forever haha.

This drive up the campsite reminded me of the drive up mount rainier but this was abit special cos there's a small stream just next to the roads and woww i saw water flowing in the stream..damn nice...just gushing down. i wished i took a photo but the camera was stuck in the bag buried deep in the trunk (the americans call it trunk not boot, so when in america, must speak trunk not boot) *peck, take this advice mannnn hahaha u owe me lunch. i tell you all the american lingo, confirm when u come here, they ll sure think wow u must have lived here for long or u some cool asian dude here k. muahahahahah. oh mann...

cooking in dark, barbeque, setting up a cui campfire, drinking hot hot horlicks in the cold cold weather and hiding in the tent with maggi mee in the pot like how koreans do and just chatting and laughing away was just damn shiok. really cool weekend gateway. i wished u all could trip it.. but freaking hell it was freezing in the night, i couldnt sleep la. the cold totally woke me up then i saw vic sleeping so soundly, wondering whether i was the only cold weird one. haha the next morning everyone said they felt cold they woke up they tossed and turned but everyone thought everyone slept soundly and comfortably hahaa. cool experience la..

the best part of the trip was that i really felt i was in TENNESSEE, LIKE REALLY RIGHT IN THE SOUTH. haha oh and megan fox came from tennessee. went with my favourite friend to buy firewood, ice and some special matchhead at the local petrol kiosk station and the guy spoke with the cool southern accent hhaha..KASSTY SOH! u were just talking bout the southern accent the other day rite and omggg i heard it like LIVE from a southerner. haha cool shit la.. then he offered to help us load the firewood into the TRUNK and said "this is all about the southern hospitality" in his southern accent hahaha..and he konichiwa-ed me haha prob thinks we are japs. oh mann then the women i noticed around all have the southern countryside hairstyle, curly and big big bao zha head like that and the american teenagers just sat on the back of the truck..it just feels like i'm really in the south. I used to watch like sweet home alabama, hannah montana (haha it was filmed in tennessee) and see those southern countryside living on screen, now i really saw it like real life haha. Oh man the green green meadows with smoky mountain as backdrop and horses grazing on the green green meadows are like woww.. picture perfect scenery man..lotsa stables around but sadly i have no idea how to do horseback riding. weather was perfect too..oh man.. i thought it looked like a nice place to retire in the countryside.haha.

sighhh...dont have that feeling even atlanta is like south too..and according to what chubs say it's like the empire of the south..how come so different ah.. i wished i could go texas too ..then i can really say i combed the north south east west of america. i want to eat their bar-b-q la..i saw food wars on tv in alaska and oh mannnn i think i would just melt if i could place KRUEZ & SMITTY MARKET meat in my mouth. sighhh...

oh and the next best thing, i went ZORBING. it's like the only one in US and the longest in the world. there's only another shorter one in New zealand i think. and oh mann hell lotsa fun...really alot of my first times in US. haha oh zorbing is is the recreation of rolling downhill in an orb, generally made of transparent plastic. I did the zydro zorbing which has water in the ball. cool shit i tell u..hahah damn fun i wished i moved more in the ball though like roll over victoria or do sth crazy haha it cost 36 bucks for a short 45 seconds down the slope? but it's the longest in the world soo nothing to complain..wished i could do it again though hahah

and i had a fattening buffet afterthat...deserts overload..i could feel my tummy and the spare tire surrounding my waist omg.. and i had a presentation the next day that i had to worry bout fitting into my working skirt. oh am gee...sighhh how am i evre gonna lose all the weight...

and do u know 4hour rides in cars are actually very bearable. haha i used to feel damn sian n tired after driving in spore for 1 hour like when u get stuck in jam etc. but 4 hours now is like ok leh..and while driving non stop for 3 hours in seward, it didnt really feel like 3 hours actually.. haha maybe cos we had a grreat time getting chubbo to recognize and rmb who tavia yeung is ..damn funny conversation la.. hahaha tvb dramas u are next aft i conquer my korean one hahah it was sooo funny la...we had to think of other dramas and link this character to another to help her and when she finally got it, it was phewwww hahahha fun shit oh mann i'm just loving every minute in tennessee..

Singapore sells it for what..almost $10bucks per pint?!? I wonder how much singapore sells it for but i think shld be more expensive so the smart me went and bought 20 bucks worth of biscuits to ship back to singapore! I bought like 6 packs in total, 2 chessmen, 1 milano-double choc, 1 milano-strawberry (new flavour), 1 milano-raspberry (damn nice), 1 milano-choco mint and 1 everything also have entertainment pack for mom. The cashier was so shocked she said: "oh boy, you really love these cookies huh!" hahaha paiseh max..i think she might think i m a weirdo if i said i want to ship it back to singapore. hahaha

HAHA, WHAT IS CRC? it's the Campus Recreation Center in Georgia Tech and guess what i only stepped in to this building like after 3 months in Georgia Tech.. how useless.. haha but omg i recently damn into exercising cos i can really feel my fats and i see a bulging tummy la...super huge motivation to lose this excess weight gain.. what to do...good food combined with increase in appettite and huge portions will only make lyn fat..and the threadmill is damn good, they have a tv which u can sync ur ipod with it to watch videos. haha and i realize u must really listen to songs which are damn rock or have damn fast beat..haha and i never run so long in my life before...and they count the distance in miles which makes me feel like i ran more haha back in singapore i never ran more than 2.4km in my jc and secondary school days haha and mr toh wen yi, i told you i will use the running shoes, heading to the gym again tmr!! woohooo!! maybe can play basketball and badminton after that too..haaha niceee...

And recently, the weather is like super duper hot, it just jumped from winter to a few days of spring and now it's like summer weather. 27 degrees you know!! totally felt like singapore just that it's less humid..i used to be able to walk out of the CRC feeling cool now i think it just gonna be hot...but im not complaining, loving every minute of the sun but i think i might miss the cold weather later on.. hahah but good la at least it's like a transition period for us, if not when we go back to singapore, we'll prob curse and swear at the weather everyday haha now at least can get used to the heat...man come to think of it, WINTER IS REALLY OVER. omg..sad...

fabulous weather, beautiful people, idiot tow company, blue blue sea, tons of gays, nightclubs, yummmilicious atas food, nice clean hostel, cool winter ocean snorkelling, and the best strawberries ever. oh am gee.

I really felt i was on an extended holiday when i was in miami. Really really got the holiday feel. i didnt even felt like i was here to study. The stuff we did and see was like wahhh....First night when we arrived, we had pizza at Fratelli la Bufala. omg the pizza margherita is divine man . the extra chunks of cheese is like wah faint la.. i really think the pizzas that we eat in US is so totally different from the ones i eat in Singapore. haha and trust me i will never eat pizzahut in singapore ever. unless no choice la. the crust and toppings ah is just to die for la. Then we went to this pub called Waxy's haha. There's another pub called playwright that is directly opposite and it's exactly the same thing. And according to the receptionist at the hostel, playwright was used to own by this pair of brothers then i think they fought so one of the brothers damn du lan, went across to the other side and opened an exactly same pub hahahah sounds like what a singapore shop will do like the rochor road beancurd brothers like that hahha. oh and usually if u are below 21, you cannot drink alcohol but we didnt know u cannot enter also. So they asked to check our id, hahaa so i thought can smoke my way thru, i give my georgia tech id, hahaha they are not stupid afterall. but then again we were lucky cos they only check our year then when they ask us whether we are all above 21 we just say YES. hahah so in we went and i spent 8 bucks on a imported beer which come to think of it, it's quite expensive cos beer is suppose to be cheap in US. but then again that was imported beer, so give it to them la. So we played games and with every forfeit, u got to answer a question. So chubbo lost and she told us her wildest sex fantasy. and omg, i want to knock my head on the table and the wall after i heard her... oh man hahahahahahahaha DAMN WILD. those who want to know it, pay me 10 bucks when i m back in Singapore.

Next day, we went to MIAMI BEACH. haha how cool is it. Next time i can tell people i've been to MIAMI BEACH LEH!!! hahaha it's like those places you see in TV then u think they only belong in the tv but now you've really been there la.. how cool. and the best part, i've never seen blue blue water before and this beach has blue blue water. like really blue water. and the sun was damn shiok. it's the best place in the world to sun tan cos you'll never sweat in the sun. Damn nice. Cam whored like mad again and i got an ugly tan. And i went to the Gay beach at 12th street. Took photo with their gay flag and really alot saw alot of gays. Haha. We made royston and jason take photo with the flag then this gay couple came up to us and said Hi! do you know what the flag means? Then we said yup and then he said cool. Are we going to party tonight at any nightclubs hahaha i think they think jason n roys are gay too hahahahah so fun. Miami's really a place for the rich. Never seen so many yaucht and big cars and limos in my life. The people dress rich rich, drive big cars and party real hard at night.

oh then we had real nice mango chutney chicken curry..it's like those food that u see on Ch 5 afternoons where they have travel shows hosted by angmohs tat nobody watch. i felt like i was eating one of those food in those shows. haha shiok to the max. should try recreating that chicken again back home.

At night we had the best angmoh seafood at Joe's Stone Crab. With a whopping 30 bucks meal that i usually would not pay for, but i did in the end cos it's like top 5 on tripadvisor (oh btw tripadvisor is like my best friend here. peck, you ll love this website when u start to plan for all ur trips here). It like eating no signboard or jumbo in an angmoh way. Cos their sauce is like some melted butter and mustard that u have to dip in separately. The crab is sweet to the max. i tell you. oh my god la. and the hashbrown skin ah is like crispy max max. And i had the best key lime pie ever. faint faints. full full.

Next day is another adventure man. Snorkelling in Key Largo. First time i did snorkelling. leh . I always thought my first time would be in some island in malaysia. Oh and the snorkelling wasnt done in like some shallow calm water that i expected it would be at. It was done in the middle of the atlantic ocean during winter. Wow. Cold to the max man. when we came out of the water, we shivered like mad. i never shivered like that in my life before. But cool experience la. literally. hahah and the sea was damn choppy. like every 5 seconds, one wave will come. Felt my kidney shrinking man, sea water is damn salty la. but the sea water here taste different from the sea water in singapore leh. this one like taste abit nicer haha but aiyah i dont like sea water la. it's salty.I've never eaten cuban food in my life before. but in this short trip i ate cuban food twice and not bad la, i quite like it nice. hahah nice. got chicken got pork got fish. aiyah nice la. you come n eat urself la.cuban sandwich. nice ttm
Then on the 4th and final day, we went to the EVERGLADES and sat on the airboats at Coopertown airboats. OMG. COOL SHIT I TELL YOU. the airboat just zoom zooom zoom into the everglades. wow got safari feel damn nice.. really got the holiday feel cos this is like something u ll never get to do anywhere else, especially in Singapore. We saw gators in the wild and damn nice la.. we saw the airboat that was used in one of the episodes in CSI Miami. DAMN FUN.

And then what's florida without a farm. So we went to Burr Berry Farm ahahha sounds like burberry farm rite..like got branded stuff hor.. but nope it's a STRAWBERRY FARM. i tell you the strawberry here is also eat until song song dao jurong. damn sweet... their strawberry sundae, strawberry milkshake, strawberry shortcake, strawberry lemonade and strawberry froyo is really to die for man. wahh after u eat ah, u feel like u are on cloud 9 man...really... best i ve ever eaten man. but i think overload of strawberry la. went home and lao sai.

Today is a song song dao jurong day. Haha i realise i need to blog bout atlanta hawks, stone mountain and florida but nahh i should take a break from the travelling and just do random blogging cos i have NEVER done random blogging. how sad. and i realise if i dont blog there n then, i'll just probably forget wat i wanted to blog and then when i really get down to blogging, it's just gonna sound boring.

And guess wat, i just added a tag board to my blog!! hahaha ganiba, my blog is better than your blog. chubs say u dunno how to enlarge pictures and i dunno how to add tagboard. but now i know. hahahhahaha and without her help. she is a monster la. And i added it during my 202 class in school. today is just a damn slack day..so different from the last thurs where i had to rush non stop the entire day til i finally reached miami. really damn song la. can just walk slowly, eat my spaghetti slowly, enjoy the weather, just talk bout random stuff and also hear chubbo talk bout how she will act when she goes for speed dating when she is in her early thirties. when she has no boyfriend and worries bout not being able to get married. hahahahahahahhaahaha oh am gee. you should just see the way she acts it. And we were just talking to this french guy we made friends last time at another friend's gig. And i realize communicating to people who speak differently is really damn tiring. SAVANNAH, GA

Hello, i'm back..i realise i'm always the last in the group to blog about the trips haha. Savannah was like 3 weeks back..but better late than never. Been travelling extensively in the past few weeks and wowww i feel like i'm on an extended holiday. Exchange has been reallly damn gooood. haha...i think im gonna get serious post exchange depression when i go back to Singapore. though i really miss Singapore alot especially the food. I've got tons of stuff i want to eat when i go back home.

So about Savannah, it's a little small town in Georgia so while Jason went to Chicago that weekend, the NBS year 2 gang set off for our 3 days 2 night road trip to this town at the east of georgia. Initially, i thought it was just a historic town, nothing much but OMG i was so wrong. Tons of photo taking opportunities and sites. We camwhored like mad and it was a blast. Haha thanks to Royston's tripod. Annd I saw so many things that when u are cooped up in small little Singapore, you ll never get to see it.

The weather was soo goood..so warm and sunny and it's nice to take a break from the cold in Atlanta. I could just wear a teeshirt n jacket and walk out and just soaak in the sun..damn warm damn nicee... the first day we went to Forsyth Park. The park where forest gump was filmed and wow...While the park in Central park was grand, Forsyth park was much much greenier (maybe cos of the weather) and it's just like a neighborhood park but the feel and atmosphere is so nicee...sighhh one of the nicest park i've ever been tooo. and we camwhored like mad there.

i've been getting better at man handling chubbo. hahah told her not to mess with me.
we then had dinner at vinne van go go's pizza
the pizza is so damn big and i ate a quarter of that whole big thing. omg.. my appettite is horrible here..i feel like a pig la. i used to think the portions here were damn big. like must share that type, nowadays, everyone can order one portion for themselves. Sigh... but i must say the pizzas in USA are like ooh la la..no pizza in singapore come close to those here.. thats gonna be one of the food i ll miss when i leave this place.

And check out this little pralines at the bottom. It's this candy shop next to the pizza place and wow..it damn heavenly.. it's super duper sweeet but u dont get sick of the sweeetness...they have the caramel and like milkmaid condensed milk taste and the pecans and chocolate all mixed in this thingy..wowww i wanted to buy it but its freaking expensive.. best pralines ever.
DAY 2:
We went to Skidaway park and Tybee island. Skidaway park is wowww... really got the africa feel. we did a short trail and walked inside the national park..damn cool cos u get to really immerse urself in nature. hahha and again we camwhored like mad. hahah we had like mini photoshoots along the way la..there was this lady whom we met at the start of the trail and when we were not even halfway thru, she was done with hers and we saw her walking back.. hahaha took damn long cos we just kept taking photos and behind every photo is like tons of NGs and reshoots. Quite funny actually.. but damn nicee.. one of those experiences that u wont get to do in Singapore.

This is Tybee Island. It reminds me of Orcacoke alot haha and i've never seen so many lighthouse in one period of my life. But this time round, you get to climb up the lighthouse for 7 bucks and its a 178 steps up it. Haha once u conquer it, climbing the 99 steps at Clarke Quay Station Exit C is nothing. I really pity the lighthouse keeper in the past. poor man la, everyday got to climb up 178 steps just to light it. can u imagine if u forgot something or left something up there, oh man u got to climb all the way up again.

The view at the top is really nicee..but actually it was quite freaky cos when u look down and sit how high up you are, got the height phobia thingy la...

oh mannn i wished i was a cat.. so xin fu la.. can just lie there n bask in the sun... oh mannn i want to be a cat tooo .. .

eating ice cream in that weather was heavenly... nice nice sunset...never see so many sunsets in my life before too haha.. the one at orcacoke was nicer though cos u can really see the sun set and the moon rise up at the same time.
This was at crab shack. i can only say i ate nicer seafood before.

sighhh ..it was a real nice weekend getaway..and when we drove back on sunday and went into 1199 francis street, oh mann the blues started setting in.. i wished the holidays would never end hahaha

She is called poh wan ting or fu wan ting in chinese. But she goes by the name erin here but no one calls her that. Our teacher taught she called herself aaron. Sometime my house mates calls her Rita (aka retard). But i call her chubbo, or chubs or chubby.

She is a piece of shit. She bullies me all the time. And the only time she is nice is when it's a CBN day (Chubbo Be Nice)
She has really weird expressions.
she likes to imitate me. but does it with exaggerations and inaccuracy. she has really kiddish expressions.

she doesnt eat beef. she loves chilli. she likes to sing. she likes to take photos. and she loves to watch porn. her favourite show is GIRLS NEXT DOOR. and she gets high when she see naked girls. haha. I recently found out she is a PON QUEEN too. She never or seldom pon lessons in NTU, but here in Atlanta, oh am gee.. she pons lesson like nobody's business. and once she made up her mind to pon school, she ll be damn happy. she runs and turns and jumps in the air. Kass, if u ever see that image that i saw last night, you ll be shocked. ur jaws will drop like mine.

LIFE IN GEORGIA

helliooo..realise i havent been blogging faithfully. haha. life's been a blast so far. slack. cold. fun. yummy. georgia's growing on me. school life here is a 100 times more slack than NTU. wonder how i'm gonna cope when i get back.

I have a 4 day week. but it feels like i go to school for 4 hours a week only. the number of lessons i pon just last week is like whoa.. hahha self declared recess week. feels damn good haha my final exams are like 20% only and some modules dont even have one. school life here is just so slack. i do miss NTU a bit though, i miss my friends, lycan, 6shots, i miss the feeling of just being able to buy any food i want from the canteen and not feel poor. but definitely not the studying part hahah. Just last week, me and my "favourite" buddy, chubby packed lunch to school!! haha always wanted to pack lunch back in NTU for chubbo and kasster haha finally did it but not in singapore. but nvm will aim to do so when i get back. Chubs n Kass, we must find a nice bench somewhere and eat our lunch next sem k!!

The funniest thing is that the only people who use the microwaves are all ASIANS! hahah ang-mohs dont pack lunch. but nvm. got abit of the korean feel. the korean dramas i watch always show them packing lunch to school or office. haha and its good cos i get to save money to go travelling instead! ALASKA, SEATTLE, FLORIDA, WEST COAST, NORTH NORTH AMERICA, here i come !! hahaha recent planning and research for these trips really excites me. cant wait for spring break to come soon mann!!

we kinda finished the main tourist attractions here in atlanta, cleared the COKE and CNN center and wow. not too bad. i kinda enjoyed both. We tested hell lot of flavors in coke hahah finally got to see my favourite soft drink factory. really got the Charlie n the chocolate factory feel. makes u damn happy when u go in. CNN was kinda inspiring. i wished i was a cool cool photojournalist, then i can get to travel the world and see history happening. how nice. hahah but wat a random dream.

if u ever go to the world of coke, pls try the drink BEVERLY. omg. *pukes hhaha chubby looks shorter than me rite!! hahahahah jia jia, i did u proud!

the food's been good so far. love the spaggetti that chubs and i cook for lunch. love her vegetables. love jason's breaded fried chicken and i love the bar-b-q here!! and the chinatown's beef noodles n fried rice that can feed ur lunch n dinner n next day's breakfast. i love the burgers, the pizzas too. but one thing i realise im not so into is southern food. went to Mary Macs a few weeks back, it's suppose to be the best southern food around but i found it ok only. Then i went to Silver Skillet and saw their southern food menu and then finally concluded i m not a fan of southern food. haha i ate a cheese burger there in the end. haha.

haha and for the second time, it's snowing in atlanta and this time it's so different. it's so so much heavier and so so much more beautiful. Going to build my snowman and throw snowball at chubs tmr. hahaha damn nice... the trees are all white now and the entire ground is covered with snow. so damn beautiful...so one of the niciest and beautifulest view of francis street. wow wow wow..

FOX BROTHER'S BAR-B-Q & THE VORTEX

this 2 places have one of the niciest food ever in Atlanta. Located at Little 5 points, Fox brother's bar-b-q is reached by bus 113 MARTA just outside my house. Dont talk about bus 113 la. i 'll complain about it later. got good and bad. haha but thanks to handsome WENYI for being the tour guide of the day!

Fox brother's bbq is one of the best bbq i ever eaten. can fight with B's barbeque in North Carolina. We ordered the Baby Rack Combo which comes with half rack ribs and choice of other meat which we chose the Pulled Pork. O-M-G. When we first saw it, it didnt look that appetizing but with the first bite, oooh la la...DAMN NICE. the bbq ribs is like soft, sweet and tender and melts in ur mouth. the pulled pork is special. doesnt taste like pork doesnt taste fully like chicken either. and their house made sauce is another ooh la la.. damn nice. plus the service is damn good. we made friends with the waitress and another waitress asked me bout my cool cool smittens hahahah. one of the boss, steve was a real nice guy. he saw us taking pictures and offered to help us take one and opened up the place where they smoke their meat for us to see and take pictures. how nice.
the food is so damn nice, they had people filming it la..i heard they are from discovery channel haha how weird.

then we shopped around little 5 points and omg i found this shoe i really really like.. it's 34.95.. and i wanna buy it..sighh need to go count my money first haha!

dinner at vortex was another ooh la la..it's like a biker's gang kinda place and the burgers they sell aareee sooo nicee..kinda reminds me of botak jones. they call themselves a idiot-free-restaurant so the fact that i got to dine there shows that im not an idiot hahah. We ate the coronary bypass burger with 3 slices of cheese, bacon, one egg, one really juicy nice patty and lettuce onions and tomatoes. woww.. the combination is damn nicee. haha and they add abit of chilli in their slaw so i thought chubbo might like it hahaha .. and check out their menu mann .. quite fun to read haha they had other huge-r burger like the double bypass and super dunno wat haha.. cool la

oh and i was pretty amazed at the size of the water. Damn big. haha it like almost the height of the entire straw

NEW YORK, I LOVE YOU

I wished i watched that movie. so i know how to compare it with the new york i went.

Wow one place down, more to conquer! hahah seems like we're really on track. Was a jam-packed 4 days3nights new york trip but very fulfilling and i fulfilled some of my lifetime dreams. I saw the statute of liberty though it look really small from where i was but i saw a human form one. haha i went to central park and oh man the feel is damn nicee..they had a small little underground shelter with walls that look damn victorian and a busker playing his cello there. oh man the feel is how nice. the music is how nice. i wanna get married there. hahaha and there were so many nuts on the floor. squirrels running everywhere!! i wished i was a squirrel in central park. there have so many nuts there, there's no way you'll go hungry. Then when i m back in atlanta, the squirrels i see here are so much more skinnier. and the way they run and their tails bushy bushy..sigh so carefree...

oh and the best part: i watched THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA in TIMES SQUARE BROADWAY. WOW OH WOW. one of my dreams in life is to watch the phantom once and i ll be damn satisfied if i caught it in singapore. but guess wat i caught it in real braodway. the orchestra was o-m-g.

i saw brooklyn bridge. washington bull. eat neverending pizzas. empire state building. chinatown. woodsbury shopping outlet. wow. new york was nice. i miss the feeling of walking on the streets at 9pm feeling safe and seeing many people still on the streets. that is not possible in atlanta. haha

oh and u know the best part. I MISSED THE FLIGHT BACK TO ATLANTA. omg la. AGAIN MAN. i never miss so many flights in my life. and it all happened here in US. lucky wenyi was with us. haha but im glad chubs and the rest made it back. missed an extra day of lesson and spent my night in florida, the transit place. Florida is so different. The people in florida are so so so friendly. while queuing for dunkin donuts, people would just chat with u. and it was damn sunny. so niceee.

i wish i could say more about new york. but damn tired. why cant i have another 10 hours more a days... haha okie let the pictures do the talking!

hellllliiiooooo!!

I better blog sooon before leaving for new york tmr. hahah i realise keeping a blog updated is so difficult. it seems like theres tons to do every single day. oh yah I M LEAVING FOR NYC TMR!! times square, central park, broadway, chinatown, manhatten, statute of liberty, new jersey, here i come hahaha but right now, i dont feel a thing. maybe cos i ve been on holiday mode ever since i came here. haha

life's been good so far except for a few hiccups here and there. omg. i can go on bout it the whole day. i got cheated by a black while taking the MARTA one day. and i thought i was smart when i managed to get my boots at only 25 bucks the day before. really. its not safe man. some of them can be really scary. and wait til u go to UNDERGROUND ATLANTA. wow. i saw the most number of blacks in my life there. but some of them can be really friendly. like the nurse in health services. she's so niceee i can talk to her for the whole afternoon. then i got "cheated" at health services when i had to do a chest xray which i supposedly have already done so in singapore. sigh i m feeling really broke these day. first month expenses are so eeewwww. and i havent done my expenses list. me and chubs are really acting like some pooor kid man. we often go hungry during the day and i totally miss the i-can-eat-anything-i-want feel back in ntu. really. and it doesnt help that our appettites are growing exponentially here in atlanta. i m seriously eating like a pig. every hour i feel like eating something. omg. and i m kinda on my way to finishing one big bag of LAYS by myself. haha o-m-g. o-m-g. o-m-g.

Then there's so much admin stuff to settle the first two days. but im glad we are done with it. can u believe it, i actually took the tech trolley up and down 6 times in a day. it's like taking BUS C back in NTU 6 TIMES. 6 freaking times. how sian is it. and we are cheapskates to the max man. cos the undergrad office has a basket of chocolates and starbust. we purposely stood there longer so that we can try out every single flavour and pig out as much there. haha the singapore habits are all coming out man. i can blog bout it one day haha but it ll be so embarassing. you should really see it man.

and i ve never eaten so much pizzas in my life before man. like almost everyday theres a pizza in my life. fatty to the max now. haha ohh and i just ate the nicest subs in my life. FIREHOUSE SUBS omg the meat is just so juicy and tender. sigh i m craving for it again hahah. soon soon. it wont be long before i sink my teeth into those again. haha

this soft drinks dispenser has like 150 different kinds of drinks inside. how amazing. i was safe and chose root beer. nice. hahah the rest had like weird flavours.

ooh its freezing the past few days. damn cold. haha hopefully its gna warm up soon. but when its cold, you get to see frozen fountains and snow hahah.

ATLANTA: THE FIRST WEEK.

Since everyone is starting to blog bout atlanta and chubs has been reminding me bout still being stuck in the north carolina era, i shall start to blog bout atlanta too. i miss north carolina though. haha alrighty first post for my first time in atlanta, for the first month of the year and for the many firsts i encountered here.

ATLANTA.

The capital and most populous city in the state of Georgia as well as the urban core of one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States. It's in this city that i experienced cleaning up a real dirty house and toilet, first time seen so many blacks in my life, first time living in such cold country, it's like negative sth every single day, first time being away from family and friends for such a long time, first time eating like a big fat pig, the portions here are oh-my-tian. haha im feeling my appettite is ballooning like mad and i ve been stuffing myself like the angmohs. omg i cant imagine wat i will look like at the end of the 5months.

Firstly, let me show you my house and my room
I live in *******. I cant tell you my address now. Wait got robbery.

Looks nice? But O-M-G. When i first saw it, i swear i could cry any moment. It was so pathetic, so dirty, so unliveable. The floors was scratched, there was dust everywhere, the tiles in the toilet was o-m-g, yellow to the max. Dirty dirty dirty. i wondered how we were ever gonna live here. I felt damn alone la. I wished he rest was there to see the house with me. I had so many i-wish. But i guess it's bout learning to be more independent, not run away and sticking to your decisions. Life isnt that bad after the major clean up. I scrubbed the toilet like an OCD girl. haha and see the results!!

NORTH CAROLINA

NORTH CAROLINA was wonderful. i saw the nicest sunset, the nicest beach, ate the nicest bbq and taco and spent time with the nicest people ever.

The BBQ here is the yummiest ever. NC style. you cant get that in singapore. hahaha its so yummy i m craving for it now hahah the dry dry chopped pork and sweet sweet coleslaw in between 2 sandwich bun. omgg. hahah they even had the whole street named after them. haha i wished i had pictures of the shrimp taco i ate at EL PICANTE. wow. i never knew mexican food was that nice. muy yummy!! hahaha

population 800. really tiny but this is where i saw the nicest beach and sunset ever. and the first time in my life that i saw so many lighthouse. hahah. we had to drive 2hours to the ferry terminal, SWAN QUARTER and board the 2.5 hours ferry just to reach this really tiny island on the outerbanks of north carolina.

the place we stayed was called Captain's Landing. Really nice and sweet. we had a dock outside the suite that opens up to the sea. so nicee.. i wished it was summer then we could have sat there for a nice sun tan hahaha.

i tell you. its damn cool. when i turn to my right, i saw the sun set. then when i turn to my left, i saw the moon rising. hahaha so i saw both the sun and moon at the same time. WOW.

on the way back..more lighthouses at Cape Hatteras!! and we drove past rodanthe hahaha got the nights in rodanthe feel with all the sea houses.

Travelling along Highway 12 was nice!! There were like long long bridges and do you know wat a SOUND is? haha it's not POP, BOOM, WAH!
It's by wikipedia "In geography a sound or seaway is a large sea or ocean inlet larger than a bay, deeper than a bight, wider than a fjord, or it may identify a narrow sea or ocean channel between two bodies of land (see also strait)" haha Highway 12 was in between Pamlico Sound and Atlantic ocean so it was pretty cool. when u turn to the left, you see a sound. when u turn to the right u see Atlantic ocean hahaha. nice siaaa...

my first buy. haha. got this american eagle jeans for only 29.95. omg. damn good rite. and haha guess wat im a size 0 ZERO. IM NOT FAT. YET. HAHAHA SINGAPORE NEXT TOP MODEL, here i come hahahahaha!!! i m trying to control my shopping urges. Cant wait for the rest to come over before we do our major shopping spreee hahaha. my boots. my gloves. my longsleeves. my beanies. my sunglass. my bags. etc. etc.

and omg STARBUCKS. im hooked onto my mocha tall. haha damn shiok especially when its cold cold here. i keep thinking of chubbo when i see starbucks haha. you ll be damn mad over coffee here too. its cheaper too. haha oh and drive thru are damn fun. maybe cos spore dont really have any drive thru. cant wait to get our car and drive through all those drive thru hahahaa then we can drink our starbucks and drive our way down the west coast. haha.

OMG.

hahah i have a blog. and this is my FIRST blog post. FIRST BLOG POST. hahahaha

the title of the blog is kinda stupid. i know haha. but that doesnt mean i m stupid. i initially wanted to name it applesnoranges.blogspot.com but the name was taken. so i tried applesnlemons, applesnpears, mangosteens, but all were taken toooo. IDIOT. so no choice. i thought of lyn.in.georgia and jennifer'sadventure too but nahh dowan hahaha. so it became mynameislyn hahah but true wat, my name is really lyn.

I'm gonna pen down all my adventures in georgia (even the font used is georgia haha) and the rest of the States in this little blog and by the time i end it, i shld have completed touring the entire USA. or at least the places i want to see. wow cool rite. hahaa

miao, i met this china girl on the plane and we started talking. she was nice. she met her husband on a train ride. maybe u ll meet urs when u sit on the train haha.

The flight here was horribly loooooonnnnggggg. i only reached wenyi's house on 22dec 0015hrs which is like spore's tuesday 1115pm, more than 30 hours of travelling. disgusting. was damn tired by then. but i still got to see my wenyi hahaha the flight was pretty cool. talked to alot of strangers (yes i did talk ok, and i didnt talk to myself, eat shit chubbo.) i realised sitting at the window alone wasnt that good afterall cos going to toilet is quite a chore and i couldnt reach the window to lean on it and sleep haha. I sat next to this french lady from the first flight to doha. I thought she was middle eastern at first hahah i didnt know how middle eastern ppl should look like. they dont look very different from us actually hahah. judging from how the air stewardess and stewards look. We talked a bit and she said she was going to Geneva for holiday. I didnt know where Geneva was. So end of conversation. I didnt want to look stupid in front of her so better keep my mouth shut. hahah Learned it from ganiba. dont know dont ask.

And omg if u look down from the plane on Doha, it's really damn cool. the gulfs are freaking beautiful and the buidling shapes are quite unique. really look like those u see on the posters and advertisements, dubai-style. wow but the rest of place are like deserts. alot of sand.

Then on the next flight to New York, you cant imagine who i sat next to. I could so imagine Chubbo and kasster's stupid face and reaction if they saw who i sat next to. It's not esther. It's phillip. this black guy from america. yah say "yo" to phillip.

We didnt talk at all until later when he spotted me knitting haha i felt like an old grandma la. but for love. He's actually quite a cool guy. He works with the US military in Iraq and teaches the soldiers bout weapons i think. omg. dont mess with him haha. And wow totally experienced culture differences, apparently Iraq is not pronounced as "ee-rug" like how we do in Singapore and most of the world i think. He calls Iraq “I-Rack” hahaha wow. And to think i have pronunciation problem. Then he asked wat was i studying, i said Accountancy and he was like wat? Oh Accounting. Haha so apparently accountancy is not accountancy, it’s accounting so later on at the airport, when the immigration officer asked wat was i gonna study, i tried the American way and said Accounting and it worked. haha. Smart rite. OMG damn smart. Haha.

And he's from seattle! and he's been to alaska. Sigh. haha Apparently he lived in lotsa places before, Alabama, NYC, Seattle, Missouri, Savannah. He wanted to introduce this really nice brownie place in NYC but he forgot the name so too bad we gotta find it ourselves and talkking bout New York. Omg hahaha

I SAW SNOW IN NEW YORK FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE! HAHA SNOW LEH. OMGGG!! DAMN EXCITED LA. but i was alone. sian hahahah but I went around like a mad girl kicking snow and taking photos by myself. Damn paiseh. It’s just damn weird to do things alone. Hahaha. And wow it was freezing. I wore like 2 layers and walked out. Initially, it was ok leh 2 degrees ok la. I thought no big problem i’m strong man. But then the wind started blowing and omgg, in just a few seconds my hands were like freezing to the max, got the stinging feeling, the face ah damn cold. But got snow la. So must take pics hahaha see seee, cool rite hahah

ok it's gna be freezing if we were to go new york during the long weekend break hahha i think we have some shopping to do before we can go there hahahaha exciting sia. And i feel fat after one day in USA. The portions can seriously feed 2 of me. Alrighty, it's 3am now, i m off to bedd!!! miss you guys hahaha!!!
